Finding What’s Missing from Your Big Three | aka: “The Medicine”.

As we’re getting to know our birth chart we naturally focus on the planets, what houses they’re in & what aspects they make to each other.

The Big Three gets us started & then we start asking questions:

  • What house is overstuffed?

  • Where does the MC lean?

  • Do I have a stellium?

  • Where is my chart ruler?

This is normal - we’re studying astrology after all & kind of need a planet or two to study… for it to be considered astrology.

What I’ve found to be a very powerful practice as you lean further in to reading your chart is looking at where there’s nothing - where it’s “quiet” or even empty? What’s “missing’ for lack of a better term. Where did your soul say: “This is a peaceful space - we won’t really have to worry too much here. We’re good.” Or even: “This is ‘the Medicine’”.

We find more clarity in calm, don’t we? We find more solace in the quiet times… or is that just me?

In today’s article we’re going to be talking about finding “the Medicine” in your chart - focusing on the Big Three. The element, mode & polarity that is “missing” & focus there to find where your private little “sweet spot” might be. In the Membership extension - we will dive head first into deeper layers of this practice but for now: let’s find our Big Three & see what’s missing.

Let’s go step by step:

Since we’re working with the number three only - there is going to be SOMETHING missing from it by element.

Let’s use my chart: I am an Aries Sun, Capricorn Moon & Scorpio Rising.

Fire, Earth & Water. AIR is the medicine for me & it tracks. Whenever I go for a drive or am able to live with the windows down - life just feels complete. More balanced & I feel clearer as can be. I’m such a New Englander - even in the Winter time I’ve got a window or two cracked open. The fresh air breeze soothes my soul & calms the other three.

What is missing from YOUR Big Three?

Does that element feel like home or is it triggering? Does it feel like medicine or is it foreign? What element feels natural & what feels off… or even off putting? Is there something you rarely think of? Forget about, to be honest? Let’s take a look at each element individually:

FIRE (if missing: seek heat, expression, instinct, life-force)

Energetic medicine:

  • Building internal warmth through breathwork, sauna, sunbathing

  • Spontaneity: saying yes without thinking it through

  • Setting boundaries that come from gut instinct, not people-pleasing

  • Playing music loud & dancing like no one (or the world) is watching

Emotional/Spiritual medicine:

  • Reclaiming anger & sacred rage as clarifying

  • Creating something bold just for yourself — a painting, a poem, a decision

  • Laughing until it hurts

  • Reconnecting with “wanting” without guilt

Practical invitations:

  • Wear red, orange, or gold

  • Move your body with intensity (boxing, HIIT, power yoga)

  • Burn something: a candle, a letter, some sage or incense — with intention

  • Watch action films, comedy specials, or high-drama theater

  • Put on the fireplace or watch a YT fireplace video - let it crackle

WATER (if missing: seek emotion, depth, connection to soul + source)

Energetic medicine:

  • Letting yourself cry (even if you don’t know why)

  • Being near or submerged in water: bath, shower, ocean, float tank

  • Listening to music that makes you feel

  • Spending time with animals or babies — beings that feel deeply

Emotional/Spiritual medicine:

  • Practicing compassion, especially self-compassion

  • Shadow work or dream journaling

  • Allowing feelings to come without needing to “fix” them

  • Connecting with ancestors, guides, inner child, or any inner team

Practical invitations:

  • Watch a film that moves you emotionally… deeply

  • Engage in slow, nourishing touch (massage, cuddling, weighted blankets)

  • Use water as ritual: cry in the bath, pour a libation, collect full moon water

  • Journal through stream of consciousness or automatic writing

EARTH (if missing: seek groundedness, embodiment, rhythm, rootedness)

Energetic medicine:

  • Tending to your body’s basic needs: sleep, food, rest

  • Creating ritual through routine: tea, skincare, stretching

  • Touching the earth — literally (gardening, barefoot walking)

Emotional/Spiritual medicine:

  • Honoring the sacred in the mundane

  • Taking responsibility for your space, your finances, your body

  • Making a long-term plan & following through

  • Slowing down: resisting urgency as a trauma response

Practical invitations:

  • Meal prep or cook something from scratch

  • Track your cycle or sync with lunar rhythms

  • Tend to your finances with care (budgeting, saving, giving)

  • Go to the farmer’s market, touch the produce, be present in the world… be a part of it all.

AIR (if missing: seek clarity, space, perspective, connection)

Energetic medicine:

  • Intentional breathwork or just noticing your breath

  • Reading, learning & staying curious without needing mastery

  • Going for a walk without a destination - BE present while out & about

Emotional/Spiritual medicine:

  • Naming your thoughts, writing them down

  • Speaking something out loud that you’ve only ever thought

  • Asking a question you don’t know the answer to

  • Practicing detachment: letting thoughts float by like clouds

Practical invitations:

  • Call a friend just to chat — not to solve anything

  • Write a letter (sent or unsent)

  • Open the windows, declutter a drawer

  • Say something out loud in your car to hear how it lands

  • Let the wind carry you - be a part of the mystery of it all.

These are in no way doctrine - just some fun ways to look at your chart with new eyes. With a fresh season of Fire & Air coming in (2025-2026 marks the beginning of it all) - finding balance in the elements inside (in the chart) is an incredible place to start. Finding balance in the Big Three - our foundations - is when the structure of your inner being finds its equilibrium.

In the upcoming extended article in the Divine Sovereign Room - we will unpack more in depth ways to look over our entire chart & what element, mode & frequency is missing. What is most potent & powerful & how to balance it all. Since we all study different charts (some read the asteroids, some read Chiron & Lilith, some don’t count the South Node, etc.) how we find our “Medicine” is going to ebb & flow. That balance will shift for every single one of us. So focusing HERE on the Big Three is the best place to begin.

*** As always - if you do NOT know your birth time: we use the Aries Rising Chart. It adds the element of Fire into your soul - no matter. The site I’ve linked above does not require the birth time to pull up your chart. Worry not, I don’t know the birth time for my Company & the Aries Rising tracks. Aries Rising is special, potent & rare. That’s YOU. Even if you don’t know your birth time - especially if you don’t - YOU are special, potent & rare. I love you.

I hope you enjoy todays article & am excited to deep dive in the Membership Group! See you there!

As always,

SARAH
